After all the flaming, the girl actually turns out to be much more articulate than I would have expected. And unfortunately, I do agree with many of the criticisms that she levels at Singaporeans. I just hope my fellow Singaporeans can accept the merit of her observations, maybe we will become nicer people. She speaks her own mind and bases her opinions on her own experience, which is not a bad thing, except when she tries to criticise the larger system such as the minimum wage. You cannot judge the wage system purely from the perspective of the employee ... I wonder if this is symptomatic of a very self-centred perspective that more and more Singaporeans are adopting. With success, we have shifted from the collective struggle for survival to the individual pursuit of pleasure. We are not willing to work hard, and we take for granted everything that we have. She makes many comparisons to Australia. Lets not forget that Australians are heavily subsidised by the shit they dig out of the ground, as my Aussie friends would say. Life there is better, it is less of a struggle, no doubt. If Singapore had oil or uranium, we could work less hard too. So why dont we all just migrate to an easier life, rather than doing our bit to make Singapore better? Keep it up, and there wont be a Singapore for us to be not proud of.
