After an awesome 5 weeks in Europe being totally present for my husband ( apart from the 2 weeks to wind down! ) I arrived home to 4 beautiful births in 2 weeks ! The practice had continued busily in my absence with active birth classes, circle of care antenatal sessions and of course, beautiful births. It was joyful coming back ( despite the jet lag) to see everyone. I have to take my hat off to Josie, Kelli and Erin who worked really hard in the practice whilst I was away - words are not enough to say thank you. So this is a long awaited update: The births I attended on my return were nothing less than magical with the women, their babies and their partners journeying through labour and birth in their unique way. Each woman was strong and enduring of the mystical and twisting journey through the labyrinth of birth. They used their primoidial knowing, their innate trust of body, to achieve the best birthing experience possible. It is our intention, as midwives, that our women may look back at their birth, whatever happened, with a sense of fulfillment and inner peace. The last birth I attended on the full moon this month another awesome birth. Having attended the first birth with this family over 2 years ago, this birth was staged beautifully in front of the full moon ( and 2 inquisitive opossums!)and this mama surrendered totally to the energies flowing through her. It was a calm and graceful waterbirth with her partner reaching forward to receive the baby and together they looked at her for the first time. Awesome! Of course theres always a funny/surprise in a birth - this one when the Dad asked his partner - are you comfortable? - as the baby is just about to crown! Not exactly what any mother would describe that moment as...but we knew what he meant lol. Mary
