After being recommended by others and having tried to watch it three times, I have finally sat through The Place Beyond The Pines. What a thoroughly frustrating film. Why try and cram as much in? Why not flesh the story out and span it over two movies? Why have Ryan Gosling play practically the same character he played in Drive? Why bother having Ray Liotta in it when his character was basically ineffectual to the storyline? A 2 hour 20 minute film that changes direction so many times just as its getting bearable, I shouldve turned off after the first 50 minutes. Has actually annoyed me to the extent that I feel like I could shit up and dragon punch the elderly.
