After being shut out at West Wilson last year, the Dickson Middle School Dragons returned the favor by beating the Wildcats 16-0 Thursday night at home. The Dragons remain unbeaten at 3-0 with the tough win. Dicksons Darian Burns put the game away early when he broke free for a 53-yard scoring romp on the second play from scrimmage. Colton Harris connected with Triston Corlew for the conversion and a quick 8-0 lead. Both offenses struggled for the rest of the game, as mistakes and penalties aided the defenses. West Wilson had problems all night with the snap in shotgun formation, including one series that saw three straight snaps over the quarterbacks head and then the long snap soared over the punter on fourth down, giving the Dragons good field position. But Dickson was unable to capitalize on the mistakes and appeared content to run out the clock with the one-touchdown lead. But late in the fourth period, Burns cranked off several big runs to push the Dragons deep into Wildcat territory before Harris rolled out and found tight end Kody Pardue open for the touchdown. Burns carried for the conversion and a 16-0 lead with 2:49 remaining. A serious back injury to Dicksons Jaxson Taylor brought the game to a halt with under a minute to go and the officials decided to run the rest of the time off the clock to the final horn. Taylor was reported to have feeling and movement in his extremities but was taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution. There was no report on the nature of his injuries.
