After carefully reading through the facts in the VA inspector generals report, it is clear that Secretary Shinseki must resign. His distinguished service in the Armed Forces deserves our utmost respect, but his apology this morning indicates that he does not understand his mission. He must take responsibility for the lack of care our veterans have experienced under his watch. It is time for Secretary Shinseki to step down and allow new leadership to bring a fresh start to the VA system so that our heroes receive the treatment we promised them.
