After charging me $8 to get into Craters National Monument, drive on their asphalt roads, and walk on their man-made wood paths, and use their restrooms, they proceeded to educate me with no less than five signs about how my presence at the site was destructive to nature and how if people go off the trail, years of ware might affect the appearance of the volcanic rock. It is hard to be consistent without a Christian understanding of taking dominion over the earth. Yesterday at the zoo they said mankind is one of many animals in this area. If we are animals, let me wander off the path like an animal.
