After getting told that maintenance didnt have a plane for my 0622 event this morning, one of the other pilots and I made a tactical decision to pursue breakfast tacos at Rudys and then return the extra car seat in my truck to my wife before returning to the office. As we were leaving my house a young boy on a bike on the verge of tears asked if we had seen two small dogs that had escaped from his yard. We said that we hadnt but wed keep our eyes peeled. As luck would have it we passed the dogs as we drove down the road and we stopped, but there was a small problem. Lets just say that they were, stuck together. We both grabbed a dog and started pulling but to no avail. Cars slow rolled by but we couldnt bear to look at the drivers faces. We eventually just picked them up as one unit and tossed them in the back of the Tacoma. The little boy was elated that we had found the dogs but was probably a little confused on why we wouldnt let him see them until we could talk to his mother. Moral of the story? The next time you drive by two Navy pilots in uniform on the side of the road playing tug-o-war with a pair of humping chihuahuas, dont automatically assume its perverse. They may just be trying to help and God needed a good laugh that day.
