After listening to the arguments raised on the issue of who takes - TopicsExpress

After listening to the arguments raised on the issue of who takes over as Delta governor come 2015, I am yet to see the import of sentimental association of sympathy towards a particular geo-political zone. It besets my thoughts when people who know what and why an election is conducted try to marry such with a more myopic view of whose turn it has become. I am more inclined to the saner argument of what an election means. That a geo-political zone has held the reins of affair twice in a state does not in any way negate the fact that governance is not all about who benefits more from the governor but on the basis that there is equitable distribution of social good except as is been preached by these people of sinister interest to alienate other regions. It would be recalled that during the tenure of Olorogun Felix Ibru and Chief James ibori, there was massive developmental impact of governance across board....these undeniable facts speaks loudly for themselves. Then, no one considered where the governor was from but largely seen as a member of every tribal family. Today, political actors in a bid of whipping electoral sentiments have indoctrinate the myopic view of a microscopic few that there is fairness in rotating tenure-ship. I stand to be corrected that if not for the selfish and evil plan of politicians of this gospel, why would a Nigerian or a Deltan, pay attention to where who leads hails from. (1) That an Asaba; a border town is the capital of Delta is not fair enough?. (2) That the only airport in Delta state is in Asaba is not fair enough?... (3) That Asaba is the only town witnessing constantly, government presence is not fair enough?... (4) That the town where the only university is domicile is as colloquial as a village in Osun is fair while massive transformation dot the streets of Asaba is fair enough? Leadership is all about character, competency and benevolence...If an urhobo man has made the entire state to witness this transformation across the length and breadth of Delta without recourse to where he is from (obviously there are more urhobo villages yet to know what and how a government feels), I think ethnic bigot and chauvinist clamouring for power shift should bury their heads in shame. In the words of Chief William Ibori, urhobos cannot afford to go through another hectic experience as we have been shown the other side of love by our dear neigbhours.... Against the chameleon-ious posture of some urhobos who for personal gains have chosen to take side with those propagating the Delta North agenda, I think for posterity, a Deltan who bears the toga of a true leader should be the Delta governor in 2015. As urhobo is not lacking in this wise with array of eminent and prominent sons and daughters, everybody should galvanize support towards the realization of their goal!....not the denigration of ethnic sentiment of electoral sympathy to a region. For the urhobo nation, the UPU and UPC have chosen to lead the way for such noble attainment with the voting strength been harnessed. we are not unawares of the spoilers but it should be explicitly stated, in 2015, we will vehemently oppose the exclusion, suppression, and imposition of any unpopular candidate on us if it means, having a hot romance with the readily-available opposition(s). .......Orido Ejiro, social commentator writes from Ughelli.
