After my last surgery, I was in and out of consciousness with days. They said I wouldn’t make it. Then I remember the moment which I remember it so clearly. I was in a sand storm walking with all these people with our heads covered and walking in a same direction. And I kept thinking to myself… why? why am I in this group? I wasn’t scared but just I was puzzled. and then I heard my name been called, “Jamila over here” then I looked at my right. and in the middle of open space, there was this beautiful merry go around and all the people that I know and love were riding on it and laughing and waving. Waving for me to join them. It took everything I have to run to them. It was my last ride wasn’t it? All those faces and all those hearts, I am such a lucky woman. I am not afraid Hector. People who are afraid of death are afraid of life.
