After our first run thru of In The Heights at the Village Theater - TopicsExpress

After our first run thru of In The Heights at the Village Theater last night, it made me think of how grateful I am for the people and events that led to me to booking one of the best musicals Ive been in. Andrea told me about this amazing musical I have to audition for. Without previously seeing the show, I decided to see what all the hypes about. Joseph Tancioco (now playing Piragua guy at Village Theater) helped me prepare for my vocal audition. A good friend of mine (name withheld) helped me get a rate of $50/night at the Double Tree in Times Square right across TKTS. For real? YES! So I flew to New York, watched the show that night. It was so good; I cried, laughed, and danced in my seat almost the whole time that I knew I had to kill it at the audition the next day. After making the final cuts, I told the assistant choreographer (name withheld) that Im not from New York so she kindly got me a private audition with choreographer Andy and a private vocal audition with Alex the next day. No pressure at all... About a month later, I was in Europe teaching and went up the Eiffel Tower with friends I met in Paris, Christi and Mike. My phone rang and saw a New York phone number on my screen and knew I had to pick it up. There, on top of the Eiffel Tower, is where I got my first and only callback for the 1st National Tour of In The Heights. The next day, I got the offer the day while hanging out with Andrea, who happened to be in New York at the same time. Through the tour, Ive met life long friends and got to tell a touching story and perform some amazing choreography to frikkin awesome music all over the country including Japan where I reconnected with an old dance student/friend, Takako. Now, thanks to Troy Wageman, Steve, and Robb that I get to perform this show again at the Village Theater, with some old friends and new ones too! I also get to share the stage with Cruz Control members Vince-John S. Frijas, Dez Boyd, Jenna Summerfield Lindberg, Rylan Bonnevie and Nathaniel Padre in our first musical together. Its about family; its about home and weve got all of that right here! Thank you Lin for creating a beautiful show! Come see In The Heights at the Village Theater which opens this Thursday, Sep. 18 #villageheights
