After paying respects to HRH The Gyaltshab at Gyalpozhing this - TopicsExpress

After paying respects to HRH The Gyaltshab at Gyalpozhing this morning, I drove to Rangjung and met with the community of that town. There were four issues I have to report back after my first visit last year. One, concerns over re-location of Furniture-Making Unit and Automobile Unit away from Rangjung Vocational Training Institute; two, temporary deputation of doctor of Rangjung BHU to Tashigang and Mongar causing inconvenience to people; three, construction of town meeting hall and four, declaration of Rangjung as yenlag thromde. I reported about discussions in parliament on two of the latter issues and action taken on the first two issues after consulting with concerned ministers. Shortage of drinking water in the town and maintenance of street lights were raised as two pressing concerns. Later I met with some of my village people to discuss lhakhang reconstruction project. Back in Tashigang, I met some gups of Tashigang over dinner and solicited their views on provisions of the Local Government Act amendment bill that will be discussed in NC this time. Tomorrow I travel to Merak and then to Sakteng. Instead of returning to Tashigang, I will trek from Sakteng to Shingkhar Lauri and a few gewogs in Samdrup Jongkhar. It will be a six-day trek visiting some of the most remote communities in our country, and I am very excited by this opportunity.
