After receiving another neupogen injection upon awakening this - TopicsExpress

After receiving another neupogen injection upon awakening this morning, Cecilia left for the oncology clinic with her overnight suitcase. She spent several hours getting prepared for being the donor for Nathaniels bone marrow transplant. This included having an IV placed in her arm and a pheresis catheter placed in her neck. The lab tests performed on her all produced excellent results Tomorrow, the medical staff will be able to harvest her stem cells from the catheter rather than going into the usual bone marrow location. Cecilia became fussy at times due to what she went through today, but by early this evening she had calmed down. She occasionally asks questions about and complains about what has happened with her arm and neck, but once we explain to her whats happening, she accepts it and focuses her attention on other things. *** Update: Cecilia was just complaining about pain in the arm the IV had been placed in. Her nurse checked it and attempted to flush it. It turns out the IV will be required to be reinserted overnight so that the medical staff will be able to draw the blood needed for tomorrows lab tests. *** Nathaniel has continued doing well and seems to feel fine. His hemoglobin count had been getting low so he had a blood transfusion. He seemed a little worn out so he had a good, long nap this afternoon. He appears to be in excellent condition on the eve of his bone marrow transplant, far exceeding any of my expectations. Tomorrow will be a very important day for both of the children. Please pray that the procedures all go as planned, producing results that will keep Nathaniel cancer-free and healthy throughout his long life. Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers.
