After school today we went to meet baby Faith who also has LM at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. She is 7 mos old and is here from the Virgin Islands because there wasnt treatment there for her. Her grandmother has been by her side all of these months while her mother has to be at home, so far away, to care for her other children. We went to visit to offer support and hope and surprisingly found another 6 week old baby boy a few rooms down who also has LM. Baby Joshuas mom is overwhelmed with the diagnosis-being so young and her first baby, it is do scary. Both babies have trachs as well. We shared photos and experiences with them-explained that Kennedy is an athlete, happy, normal teen and that as difficult and frustrating of a diagnosis that this is, they can live a full life and defy the odds. It was a wonderful experience and I think Kennedy is starting to understand more about what her purpose is-to inspire, support and give hope! We will be keeping in contact with both families and will do whatever we can to help them through this journey!
