~*~ After seeing MANY post on the HAPPY HOLIDAYS VS MERRY CHRISTMAS debate... I would like to post my 2 cents in.. The saying Happy Holidays has been around as long as I can remember, (and I am about to be 54 years old) It was on most Christmas cards we ever received.. It was a simple ALL inclusive statement for the entire season.. including Hanukkah and New Years,.. etc.. It was not an issue till the public school system was required to find a way around the term Merry Christmas OR Christmas holidays, (which is actually only 2 days of the month of December for practicing Christians) and include a way to include ALL students, during a season of many celebrations, (of many faiths) This may NOT be to the Christians liking, but in (general public) America, it is a fact.. The goal is to include, not exclude. I ask that that you focus more on that someone greeted you with ANY term of kind greeting, than huff and puff that your preference is not said. Tis a season of kindness and compassion.. charity and love.. anger and bigotry have no place.. (or any other time) during this HOLIDAY.>>>>>> ** AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION.. The song HAPPY HOLIDAY was from the movie Holiday Inn.. from 1942... So it is NOT a new thang .. just a simple greeting, meant for ALL, no matter your faith, origin, race, creed, political agenda, or gender... Just a kind greeting. May we, that celebrate Christmas, remember His teachings, and embrace AND practice, the love in them, rather than focus on divisional personal differences.. .. and from me?.. :D Merry Christmas Yall :D .. (winkz) oh yeah.. and a little old song I sing every year.. :D ~*~ TR Gilmer 2014c.
