After spending 14 hours with a police officer i really realized how much being a cop takes a toll. The officer i patrolled with started his shift 2 hours early and stayed 5 hours after his shift ended. He wasnt being payed extra he stayed to make sure that everything was in order and that people were safe and to make sure the right people were off the street. People dont understand how much being a police officer demands from you. Not only that you have to serve and protect, you have to make people feel secure. You have to be a teacher, and also a guardian. You have to be a leader and every time you pin that badge to your chest you are risking your life. People do not understand the sacrifice that police officers give for a very low paying job. For some reason there are always videos coming out that are meant to crucify law enforcement officers. People share these videos with captions talking about how police officers are scum and how they abuse their powers. People on social media sites attack police officers as a whole. They dont share the video and say, man that cop in this video is scum and he is abusing his powers. I agree there are some cops out there who are bad cops. If you buy a batch of 1000 apples at least 30 will be bad. You dont throw the whole batch out, you keep the good ones and you use them 970 apples. The reason our country is turning so violent and crime is at its all time highest is because people will not allow law enforcement to do their jobs. Back in the day, old school policing consisted of a good ass beating and some jail time. Thats why back then crime wasnt as bad. These days people want to challenge everything a cop does and wont allow them to do their jobs. We rely on the police more than we rely on anything but people want to bash everything they do until their car is broken into or they are beat up and robbed. Cause at that moment the first person they call is the same person they just bashed on facebook. Think twice before you bash law enforcement cause when you need them they will show up and make sure you are safe regardless the shit you talked.
