After studying ethnic diversity in the US all semester its really appalling to me how racist discourse, socio economic inequality and social hierarchies are built into the American social structure. These are not things that exist in nature, this is the result of hundreds of years of Eurocentric greed and imperialism, this is the result of a country built upon false science and eventually, this results from capitalism. How can a country built upon external racism of the native Americans and internal racism of African Americans solve these issues?! Education, knowledge, empathy, understanding. Racist jokes or any sort of discourse really are not funny. Of course its extremely common to be ignorant of these things but whats most important is helping each other change, working towards a better world of equality and understanding. Dont blame human nature, who the hell knows what human nature is anymore? We have none. We have society and other human constructs. Take responsibility and take a stand.
