After talking to Imani this morning about going back to school from the winter break, and hearing whoa is me attitude geometry is too hard and I cant do it spirit, I told her that I wanted her to read this book...TODAY. So she reluctantly started reading it. This evening she comes running into the kitchen where we were and said she had to read us something. She had almost finished the entire book in one read. So she proceeds to read the story about the penny. Where 2 brothers are given a choice of getting 1 million dollars cash or getting 1 penny doubled every day for 31 days. One brother takes the 1 million cash and invests it while the other takes the penny. Of course at the end of the 31 days the brother with took the penny had made over 10 million dollars while the other brother had not made any more than what he invested. She was so excited reading the chapter to us (Ray and I just looked at each other because we already knew the story and it was just nice to see her recognize the value). So she learned that by doing little things every day brings greater reward in the long run. The slight edge by Jeff Olson, one of my favorite books. He wrote a version for teenagers that I picked up more than 5 years ago (before she was even a teen). A wise investment that paid off
