They are the most delicate expression on the eternal Indian craftsmanship . I sometimes think people in India marry , just to get the beauty of this endless tradition into their almirahs . India has always had a highly sophisticated specialisation of processes of manufacturing. And brilliant outsourcing systems since centuries. Maharaja Jai Singh ΙΙ (1700-1743 A.D.) Popularly Known as Sawai Jai Singh, his renaissance personality helped Jaipur to emerge as a city with many a facet. A man of highly refined taste, it was he who invited the SURANAS to Jaipur in acknowledgement of the familys dedication to the kundan art form and their ability in designing timeless pieces of art. As time passed, the city emerged as an unrivalled centre for Kundan and Meenakari, exhibiting artistic vigour and proficiency. As for the SURANAS, they became pioneers of the craft, and are today regarded as creators of the finest traditional Mughal jewellery. Creation of traditional Mughal Jewellery is the outer of well-orchestrated teamwork, which commerces with the designer (chitera), then the goldsmith (sunar), the engraver, the enameller (minakar), the gemsetter(jadiya) and finally the stringer(patua).
