After the CREATOR GOD of Israel has opened our eyes, Israelites are to serve HIM. We can no longer live and fulfill the ways of the heathen. We are supposed to be wiser than that. And Our GOD assists us in this regard to keep the focus on HIM. Yes, we are in captivity, but there are no shackles on our ankles or Slavers commanding our every move. Thus, the Holy ONE of Israel is giving us an opportunity to choose now what we want to do – keep HIS LAW and return to our heritage or remain with the worst of the heathen and follow their ways. This is very serious. We are down to the wire, and if our desires are to the heathen and their ways and religions and customs, then certainly Our GOD of Israel will see it in our hearts. We must strive to keep Our GOD and thoughts of HIM and HIS Righteousness in our hearts at all times. “All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.” Deuteronomy 8:1,2 “What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house: Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;) That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.” I Kings 8:38 – 40 “Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me: Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.” Jeremiah 16:11 - 13 Sadly, our captors groom minorities to love, support, and even promote their heathenisms - heathenisms of the worst kind, nonetheless. And while Israelites are pursuing ways to be accepted among the heathen and prosper in the lands of their captivity, they should be distancing themselves from these customs and practices and this pagan society rather than striving to get caught up in it. We have a WONDROUS GOD, and HE has burdened us with this heathenish captivity for punishment – NOT for us to embrace it. HE never intended for us to be happy and prosper in these lands but rather to be reformed so that we will return back to Our GOD with our whole heart, soul, and mind. The Merciful GOD of Israel has kept HIS WORD in every respect. All HIS Promises to Abraham were fulfilled exactly as HE had said. GOD Delivered Abraham’s SEED out of Egyptian bondage. HE gave the SEED of Jacob the Land of Canaan just as HE had promised. “And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.” Genesis 15:13,14 “And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.” Exodus 3:7 - 9 “And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.” Joshua 23:14 ALSO, the GOD of Israel gave the Children of Israel, the SEED of Jacob, over to the heathen to bring upon them all manner of evils for their disobedience to HIS Commandments, for worshipping other gods, and for joining unto them. “Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.” Joshua 23:15 Thus, our forebears enjoyed the goodness of GOD’s treasures, and these past 2,400 years, their descendants have endured curses that plague us all in one way or another unto this day. Though Our GOD of Israel severely punished the Children of Israel and removed them far from HIS Land, HIS Love for them is unconditional. We know this because “HIS HAND is stretched out still”, and HE has once again made HIMSELF known to those who seek to know and understand HIS TRUTH. “Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.” Ezekiel 11:16 This loving GOD of Israel has made it very well known that HE is the GOD of Israel and that many of the peoples HE cursed to endure the Slave Trade were HIS Covenant People. For these reasons our devotion and yearning should be to this Most High CREATOR GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. HE is Our True and Living SAVIOR and the ONLY ONE able to bring us out of this heathenish captivity. Nevertheless, this is unfortunately not the case. In this captivity of the worst of the heathens, Israelites, as a group, unsuccessfully strive to assimilate and connect with them to rise above their control, but the GOD of Israel won’t let it happen. How can Our GOD of Israel understand that we are serious about worshiping ONLY HIM and about returning to our heritage when some of us wholeheartedly participate in voting and other governmental affairs and office that perpetuate suppression of Black Peoples and other minorities? And worse, the Blacks in government who are in a position to speak out against the oppression say as little as possible about the pain and suffering of Blacks in a White-controlled society. Going against the will of the powers-that-be can and has caused many a Black to lose their seats in government that they keep warmed for naught. One good example: Fifty schools and a much needed Roseland hospital in the Chicago area are slated for closing. Needless to say, the schools and the hospital are in Black and Hispanic neighborhoods, but which Blacks in government are fighting to save them? Have we not had enough of dealing with this degradation in White society? All we know for sure to expect in this captivity are bigotry, double standards, despair, impoverishment, discrimination, stereotyping, racial profiling, death, and much woe. And these evils are but the tip of the iceberg! Will we always be gluttons for punishment? “And the LORD said, Even thus shall the children of Israel eat their defiled bread among the Gentiles, whither I will drive them.” Ezekiel 4:13
