After the euphoria of winning the World T20, Sri Lankan cricket was swiftly brought back down to earth with a bump as ructions between the players and board resumed and their coach quit after only five months in the job. Sri Lanka’s cricketers have become well accustomed to rolling with the punches though, writes Andrew Fernando. Playing for the people has not gone out of style because, when the team is marginalised by the board, or the players have gone unpaid for months, the public is all they have left to play for.
