After the wreck on Rt. 1 in Red Beach this morning, some people - TopicsExpress

After the wreck on Rt. 1 in Red Beach this morning, some people now have blood on their hands. It was a bad one and although poor judgment by the driver contributed to it, it most likely would not have happened if there was not ice on the road. But, Joyce Maker and I seem to be the only people in Calais that are concerned about or complain out it (the ice). The DOT supervisor for this area is incompetent and a liar. While the City was putting down salt today the DOT only plowed. It is just a matter of time until a school bus slides off the road, I am truly surprised that parents of school kids are not complaining about these continuing ice conditions on the State highways, especially Rt. 1 leading into Calais. I suppose I will be accused of negativity for pointing out this continuing dangerous condition. The cost of salt is quite cheap compared to rolling fire and rescue trucks, ambulances, police cars and tow trucks over an icy road to the scene and a couple of life flight helicopters, hospital charges, and property damage. People from surrounding towns may even stop shopping in Calais in the winter for fear of the road conditions they might encounter to get here. Someone, might even, get killed.
