After this morning fantastic effort the IOM Mens Squash Team took on the the number 3 seeds, Gibraltar in the final league match of the tournament. Gib have some highly rated players in Anthony Brindle & Christian Navas whom Dave Norman & Ashley Sandyford-Sykes competed against. both Dave & Ash started off well with Dave taking a 2-1 lead against Anthony & Ash out of the blocks Usain style and taking the first comfortably. However, the quality and in fairness the experience of their Gib opponents came through in both the fifth and final games. 3rd seed Gibraltar, 2-0 up. Malcolm Levy & Paul Barnett were next on court. Malcolm disposed of his opponent in straight games 3-0, whilst Paul had a hard work to do against his opponent with Paul eventually winning his match in the fifth to draw what is a fantastic result for the Island. The fate of the IOM now rested with Gibraltars result against 2nd seeded Malta. Malta, played consistently all the way in their match against Gibraltar and whilst Gib did their best it was not enough.. Malta winning. Meaning the IOM progress to their first semis.... What a CHUFFING result.. Back of the net.. Its like Norway overcoming the odds to beat in England in football..
