After two years of pressure from the American Friends Service - TopicsExpress

After two years of pressure from the American Friends Service Committee and other community advocates, Dennis DeConcini has left the board of Corrections Corporation of America. DeConcini was a star example of the disturbing revolving door between government and private prison companies. While on CCAs board, DeConcini also sat on the Arizona Board of Regents, allowing him to push for increased prison profits while shaping the education landscape. His resignation is yet another blow to the for-profit prison industry: The message to elected officials and other community leaders is clear: affiliation with the for-profit prison and immigrant detention industry is deeply unpopular with the public and will not go unchallenged. Help strengthen the movement and call on 5 friends to join the campaign to EndPrivatePrisons.org
