After watching Brooke go deep in the previous session, I hustled - TopicsExpress

After watching Brooke go deep in the previous session, I hustled into my own warmups for the next session. Had not lifted heavy since national masters 3 weeks ago, but the team and I had just finished a 10rep phase, started our first week of 5s, and with the program calling for max outs on saturday, it all worked out :) Was very happy to feel pretty good, with no wrist pain in warmups and do a very nice 110,115 sequence to start snatches. I got the opportunity to put 118 on the bar, which I had never attempted before, even in training, and gave it a decent run, but I was not aggressive and tight enough off the floor, and it was out front all the way. That is a weight I will make with more practice. I moved to c&j, needing only to make an opener to lock up 2nd, and felt very good with my 125kg warmup lift. I opened at 130kg, and was mortified when the pull felt quite heavy all of a sudden, followed by my back collapsing, and I got straight pancaked in the bottom. I collected myself to make an ugly 130kg on the 2nd, and then with 1st place out of reach and 2nd locked up, went for 142kg to try a PR, but barely moved the bar off the ground, and failed to rack it. In isolation the debacle with 130kg might be just chalked up to a long day or a little tweak in my back, but when taken into the context of the last 4 months, it shows my pulling power has gone down steadily and significantly, even as my squatting strength has reached its highest levels. Something Ill have to address if I am to break through the 140kg+ barrier and get the weights I need to qualify for the national events in 85kg.
