After watching the whole episode of NZ Pacific Music Awards on - TopicsExpress

After watching the whole episode of NZ Pacific Music Awards on Samoa TV 3, I should keep in mind that the focus of the event is music not the clothes people wear to what is considered a prestigious occasion. As an artist, I can understand many of the artists featured at the awards would rather direct majority of their income in developing their music and business rather than investing in their exterior image. Although I believe that it is a great initiative for the promotion of Pacific artists began asking series of questions while I was watching the awards; has hip hop dressing become an excuse to look lazy rather than sharp? Does the NZ Pacific Music Awards attract enough lucrative business opportunities worth dressing up for? Does the NZ Pacific Music Awards have enough clout and prestige to invite NZ Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Christopher Finlayson present the Lifetime Achievement Award? Does winning the NZ Pacific Music Awards enable artists to gain new markets and opportunities outside its Pacific diaspora audience? Why is ‘Pacific Curl’ – a pan-Pacific cultural fusion band who has been funded number of times by CNZ Pacific Arts Board has never been nominated for any awards at the NZ Pacific Music Awards let alone performed at the award ceremony event? Does the board of NZ Pacific Music Awards have an eclectic, international scope beyond the Pacific region to hustle Pacific music? What do I know? I can’t even sing to save myself YX
