After working at PIH since 1997. I can remember being interviewed - TopicsExpress

After working at PIH since 1997. I can remember being interviewed for a CNA position and not even knowing what a bedside commode was. Never the less, I started out as a CNA on a oncology, medsurg, chemical dependency floor. I graduated as a RN an continued to work as a RN. In need of a challenge I transferred to the ICU, it was definitely a challenge to say the least. Through ups and downs, tears and smiles, I met a lot of fabulous people working in the ICU. Not only nurses but Intensivists, Respiratory Therapist, Pharmacists, Physical therapist, clerks, chaplains and many who inspired me to become a distinguished nurse. I want everyone to know that PIH is the reason I have become the person I am today. I have learned everything that I needed to learn and more from this wonderful job, no other ICU team could have prepared me enough. It taught me how to be a loving, compassionate and assertive (not aggressive) thick skinned nurse :o). And I want to thank PIH and everyone for giving me the opportunity to grow. Unfortunately in 2008, I was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis and lost vision to my left eye due to my health I made some alterations in my professional career. After years of not wanting to let go of the ICU the time has come to move on. It indeed makes me sad to say good-bye to my ICU family. For my compassion and drive has always been to be a intelligent ICU nurse. PIH has and will always have a special place in my heart. As I move on to a different world of nursing with different opportunities, I can only say I would have never been able to do this if I hadnt got my first opportunity here. I will always cherish everything PIH has provided for me. Thank you to everyone!! I am truly blessed.❤
