Afternoon 9/14 update on Justin : So he had his ct scan of his chest today and it showed that his left lung was still partially collapsed, this time at 40%. They believed that the original chest tube was not wide enough for sufficient drainage of air out of the pleural cavity (the air that leaked from his lung from a small hole from a cyst rupture). So the air was staying in his chest, not allowing his left lung to re inflate. They had a cardio thoracic surgeon come and place a new, bigger chest tube in his left side, at his bedside. It was a quick procedure and Justin did well. They did a chest X-ray right after, and the dr said they could already see the lung begin to re inflate. The dr believes that the hole in the lung may take a while to heal because if the necrotizing pneumonia that is damaging his tissues, so he will have to keep the chest tube a while too. This is such an emotional roller coaster for us. Staying strong is hard to do, but we all agree that we have to for Justin. We want him to fully heal and recover. The drs just keep telling us it is going to take quite a bit of time. I will try and post another update in the morning. Im home with Kenzie tonight. Tomorrow will be his tracheotomy procedure possibly sometime around noon. I will also try and post when that begins so that you all can pray. Thank you again for the continuous prayers.
