Afternoon everyone! Since this is top of mind right now and obviously struck a cord with a number of you I wanted to start off the day by sharing a few videos on safely buckling in children and other information. https://youtube/watch?v=84CzHRsFoo8&feature=youtu.be https://youtube/watch?v=TDnVE6t-vbc Place your childs car seat in the center when possible. thecarseatlady/the-center-why-your-child-should-be-riding-there-and-not-on-the-side/ Keep your child rear facing as long as possible. thecarseatlady/when-should-your-child-turn-forward-facing/ Next sharing the iihs car safety ratings. The Car Seat Lady suggests getting a vehicle that is a TSP plus - as the plus indicates that the vehicle did better on the small overlap frontal crash test AND has crash avoidance technology. Definitely something Ill reference as we purchase our next car as what also kept us safe was the type of glass Jaguar uses that didnt completely shatter on impact. iihs.org/iihs/ratings Finally the performance of our car seat played a big role and consumer reports is still the best resource for crash performance tests. Heres a link consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/04/5-best-car-seats-for-your-baby/index.htm and The Car Seat Lady most recommends the Cybex Aton 2 and she can tell you the best car seat for your vehicle. I must admit Im an Orbit loyalist, especially now. Overall reminder... 1. Make sure your car seat is properly installed. 2. Make sure your child is properly buckled in. 3. Keep anything out of the backseat that can hurt them in an accident or sudden stop. Im not proclaiming to be an expert so just sharing what Ive learned from people much smarter than me. Again, stay safe in 2015!
