Ages ago, I went through a book called Bangali Jeevane Ramani by a bloke called Nirad C. All I can recall is a tearing hurry to establish his opinion on the basis of scanty data. That put paid to my interest in him. And I havent read anything of him since then. Yesterday I came across a reference to his Continent of Circe in Pranab Bardhans book. Bardhan says this. According to N C, some Europeans came to India; they were the Aryas; they never acclimatized themselves to floods etc. Proof? So many Calcuttans fell into manholes and perished when the roads were waterlogged.
