Agriculture: Borno State set to harvest maize at Alau Centre Pivot Irrigation Farm Gov. Kashim Shettima had yesterday visited the Alau Centre-pivot Irrigation farm along the Konduga-Bama road to assess progress of crops planted in the farm. Briefing the governor, the trio of Engr. Ibrahim M. Ali, Mohammed Dilli and Alhaji Ali Bama who are directly in charge of the farm confirmed to Governor Shettima that the maize which was planted 60 days ago is now ready for harvesting, but however added that some of the crops like Soya beans failed to give good yield and had to be replaced with high-yielding crops like groundnut. They added that in the coming days, they would start planting vegetables. The Governor expressed satisfaction with what he had seen on the farm and reinstated government commitment to invest more in agriculture to empower the youth and improve economy of the State.
