Ah, Gratitude! There is no doubt about it, running a martial arts - TopicsExpress

Ah, Gratitude! There is no doubt about it, running a martial arts school can be hard work. An entrepreneur has to wear lots of hats—sometimes those of a psychologist, salesman, motivator, teacher, the boss and the janitor, to name a few. But with that said, Im not sure what could be more rewarding. We have a chance to impact peoples lives every day, for the better. But sometimes, I find this easy to forget when the going gets tough. My office is located upstairs at our corporate headquarters. Our main school is on the bottom floor. It is 13,400 sq.ft., has three giant floors for training and I am extremely proud of it. As a matter of fact, when my brother, Tim, and I first moved our company into this building, I was so excited about this location that I couldnt sleep for a week. I have to admit that, after being there for twenty years, there are times I take it all for granted. So Ive developed a daily ritual that helps me remember what my job is all about and how lucky I am to do what I do. Every morning when I first show up at the school, I try to remember what it felt like the very first time I walked in. I wander from room to room just admiring and appreciating the building and all the great experiences we have had in this place. Next, I open my office door, sit down at my desk and take a few moments to remember how blessed I am to do what I love to do. Sure, there are challenges and its not always easy, but what is that’s worth doing? I have found that starting each morning with this ritual has completely transformed my day. Ah, gratitude! I dont know about you but it always brings out my best. How do you start your day? Do you let chance control your mood or do you have a ritual that helps to direct it?
