Ah the minimum wage battle, minimum wage was originally implemented to help young people get a start in the work place. It was intended to be a temporary wage until young people started earning a better wage based on their education, experience or simply moving up withing their job status... It was NEVER meant to be a regular wage in which to live on..... Somewhere along the line employers decided this was a way to keep their costs down and their profits higher.... yes we need those who work what others would refer to as low income jobs. Unfortunately those who work in fast food restaurants, retail businesses and such are often referred to in a lets say, less important light as far the work force goes... having said that who do you think waits on you, takes your order, rings you up etc. Do these employees deserve less simply because they work a not so desirable job??? Not everyone goes to college, not now days.... and not everyone is able to secure big jobs with big salaries. We still need folks for every position within the work force... all American citizens should be earning enough to support themselves .... so these big corporations and yes small businesses better suck it up and pay a decent wage to those who work for them... its not only fair, but vital..... give a little and get a little back.....
