Ah... what can I say? Todays worship experience was simply divine. Our mens ensemble, known as The Bad Boys of Praise, set the atmosphere for my new occasional series on Love and Happiness to take off and be well received. After playing a bit of Al Green to introduce the topic, I felt like EF Hutton: All ears were tuned in as I talked about how God uses marriage to show us how Christ relates to us. For a minute, I felt like I was on Comic View: we laughed a lot as I shared funny stories to illustrate various points about marriage and relationships, and I gave the congregation a prescription for helping to build healthy relationships: Dont forget to take your Vitamin C--Communicate, Consider, Compromise. When I gave the altar call for men to go get their wives and stand together at the altar, more than half the congregation came forth. Wow! I asked each husband to pray for his wife and each wife to pray for her husband and to seal the deal with a kiss. Loved it. Simply loved it. I will preach on this topic at least once every quarter. My congregation let me know they are glad about it. That encourages me to know that I am listening to God.
