Ahead of Modis visit, Pakistan says Kashmir is a disputed territory SRINAGAR — A day ahead of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir, Pakistan foreign office Thursday said Kashmir is a disputed territory and not an integral part of India as claimed by New Delhi, a Pakistani news channel reported. Pakistan’s foreign office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said her country did not accept Kashmir as India’s territory since the Muslim- majority region “is a disputed land.” “The United Nations has granted right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir which is not Indian ‘Atoot Ang’ as New Delhi claims,” said the FO spokesperson. She said a Pakistani solider was injured in unprovoked Indian shelling at Kotli sector of Azad Kashmir, adding that a meeting of local commanders has been convened to settle the matter.
