Ahhhh the Coccora (Amanita calyptroderma)...one of the first (and finest!) fall fungi found while frolicking in the wet woods after a rain. Golden deliciousness. Just be smart, and hold off on partaking unless youve got the mycological skillz...to pay the billz. One little slip up and youre liver is toast (Ill be posting some fungi toxicology links and info soon...so stay tuned). Some Amanita species...like A. phalloides (Death Cap) and A. virosa (Destroying Angel)...are deadly. Meaning: THEY CAN KILL YOU. And without fail, such tragedies befall hapless foragers every year unfortunately. Others like A. muscaria will get ya trippin...and not in the best way I hear.
