Ahhhh, the boot. The larval stage of the Marine. Identifiable by the abundance of woodland MARPAT, the confused gaze, and the high-and-tight their NCOs made them get. We are so glad we are not them, yet secretly, we sometimes envy the simplicity of life at that stage. If you look closely in their eyes, they still have a soul. A spark of life. Despite trying as hard as they can to look completely ridiculous by wearing boots in civvies and wearing 7.62 clothing, they still have hope in that tiny boot brain of theirs. And I envy that.
