Ahoy maguqula... Ahoy machinja... The word Diaspora speaks of nationals scattered in many countries across the globe besides their own.In our own scenario it has been interpretated to mean cowards who could not face the Mugabe regime and opted to run away! Some even label diasporans as useless voters, contributing nothing to the struggle! Zimbabwe is a population of about 15million people. The current fiscus is/was not conducive to carry the burden of demand over supply in Zimbabwe, and as such the fiscus was strained to collapse resulting in an overpour of poverty to other countries! The current state of things economically, socially and politically would have caused a major earthquake in our livelihood. So it was expediant that those of working age and/or schooling age seek refuge in other countries to ease pressure on the collapsed economy! The Zimbabwean economy is at the mercy of the Diasporians, who do meagre jobs out of the country, religiously sending groceries and financial remittances to keep Zimbabwe afloat. In small quantities and measures,we manage to keep hopes alive through the Diasporans we have chosen to call all sorts of names! To the peril of our movement, the issue of the Diasporan vote was vetoed and never given too much consideration as a game changer when we had executive powers in the GNU! The Diaspora forms almost half of Zimbabweans of voting age, most who left in protest against the Zanu pf regime and naturally would have a liking to opposition politics! If they were accorded voting status abroad,Nikuv wouldnt had a chance! Im sure our leaders will have a re-look into the issue again. South Africa and Botswana to say the least have the major bulk of diasporans and have easier access and travel modes than other countries! Im sure conscientisizing them and mantaining visibility would be change the political landscape especially if we are preparing for 2018 without advantages this time.Structures exist in offices and not on the ground in the diaspora, and that will never be a good sign. The political scene has become complex and surety of our share is prime!Work must be done, district, ward and provoncial leaders must stop wining and dinning in air conditioned offices and levitate the length and breath of commuties, kasis, marokesheni and all areas canvassing for support! Work is cut out for them...the diaspora leaders must work twice more than leaders in Zimbabwe if we are to stand a realistic chance of winning over diasporans! So stop foul mouthed talk against our brothers and sisters in the diaspora. They have sacrificed the comforts and joys of suffering in their own country to go to foreign lands so as to keep Zimbabwe alive, they cry, hurt and grieve the more you dont appreciate them. Please be human, because tomorrow it will be you! The same diasporan is still Zimbabwean, and disrespect to any cadre is disrespect to all! Sanity must prevail. In closing, the diaspora is a major source of income for the movement and Zimbabwe in general.Im sure you wouldnt want to bite the hand that feeds you! This careless talk must stop, and be sent back where it came from, the pit of hell.Mdc was founded on equality without borders! As long as you are a voter by virtue or default,we need you,you are very important,no one will take away the value you have! You are a kingmaker in your small corner of the diaspora, your contribution is immense and vital! Aluta Machinja anerudo.... Aluta maguqula alothando... Aluta Mdc Team
