Ahoy there! The 2014 Australian Maritime Museums Council Conference is to be hosted by the Queenscliff Maritime Museum at Queenscliff, Victoria from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th May 2014. The conference is themed ‘Looking Forward’ and the programme combines speakers, panel and group discussions, and workshops. Forward visions, from maritime museums large and small, combine with sessions on such things as strategic planning for museums, heritage vessels, volunteer management, maritime archaeology and, of course, the ever popular National Wrap, summarising the state of maritime heritage around Australia. A full social programme is offered and there will be plenty of time to explore Queenscliff itself. The conference will be of interest to anyone interested in maritime heritage through local history groups and museums or the management of heritage vessels.
