Aiden has a rare complication from surgery called Grisels Syndrome that occurs with head/neck surgeries. Its caused by an infection which causes inflammation in the cervical spine. Hes been having severe pain in his neck and has made his recovery just awful on top of everything else. It certainly reinforces the feeling of going with your gut, because I questioned why they wouldnt use antibiotics before OR after surgery. It wasnt until a week after surgery, three different days of phone calls following surgery, that they conclude he had an infection. After a week of antibiotics he is still in pain and hasnt regained full function movement. And just to compound things, he has never had asthma, though he was progressively getting wheezing (partial reason for the surgery), he has in the last week began having asthma attacks. Friday was officially diagnosed with asthma and has started a daily treatment, but has continued having difficulty breathing daily. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Its been a very rough couple weeks.
