Aimee Dawson Jeanieboy Reporter _________________ PRINT APPLICATION FORMS: jeanieboy.au/index.php/dreamcatcher/ The Jeanieboy Dream Catchers Netball Academy is returning to Dandenong for its third year, with the sessions beginning on the 7th of October. Aiming to empower girls and develop leaders in the community, the sessions are run by Jeanieboy free of cost for participants. Under 15 girls from Dandenong and surrounding Metro areas are encouraged to apply. The Academy will run over three sessions – MIND, BODY and SOUL – with a 1 hour workshop then a 1 hour active netball session. Each session will be inspired by elite athletes joining the Jeanieboy team for the classes. Melbourne Vixens defender and England International netballer, Geva Mentor will be attending the first session – MIND. Mentor has represented England since 2001 and was a crucial member of the Melbourne Vixens premiership team this year in the ANZ Championships Winter Olympian, Steph Prem, will be at the BODY session. Prem represented Australia in the snowboard cross at the 2010 Winter Olympic games and is a five-time Australian Champion. For the SOUL session, Australian Diamond and new NSW Swifts recruit, Julie Corletto, will be joining the team. Corletto played GD in the gold medal winning Australian team at the recent Commonwealth Games and was also a member of the Australian 2011 World Championship team. Sarah Wall who has developed the program is excited for another great year joined with fellow team mates and friends to inspire young netballers. “It is just awesome to have Geva, Julz and Steph supporting and inspiring our Dream Catchers. These ladies are leaders in all that they do. Anyone who gets a chance to hear their stories and take guidance from how they go about their lives is invaluable.” Wall said. “ I created Dream Catchers as a celebration of living a happy and healthy life through netball. I designed the workshops as a relaxed learning environment where our Dream Catchers participants can listen and learn from elite netballers and athletes journey to success. Its never about being told how to live your life. Its about developing learning tools through hearing from inspiring people who have been through set backs, worked hard and found the confidence in themselves to never give up. Dream Catchers is about feeling good about yourself and giving all involved the confidence to chase their dreams.” Wall said. Dandenong and District Netball Association will be hosting the sessions at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong. Christine Ware from Dandenong and District Netball Association encourages girls to apply for the Academy. “It is fantastic that the Dream Catchers Netball Academy is offered here again,” Ware said. “I encourage any young women in the 14 – 16 year age bracket to grab this opportunity. You will be inspired by wonderful role models with three great sessions: mind, body and soul.” “We all train to be fit for netball. These sessions help us be fit for life.” The Academy is open to all netballers under 15 years of age and is no cost to the participants.
