Air Force Master Sgt. Nicole Baldwin, reunites March 18 with her son, Connor Baldwin, 6, at Meridian Ranch International Elementary School in Falcon School District 49. As kindergarten teacher Ashley Mullins announced a special guest for story time, she knocked on a door. Baldwin opened it. Connor ran for a hug. A reservist assigned to the 39th Aerial Port Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base, Baldwin had just returned from a seven-month deployment to the Middle East. This is my first homecoming having a family -- I miss them all so much, she said. During her 27-year military career, she has participated in every major conflict, including operations in Somalia, Rwanda, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Arabian Peninsula. While in the Air Force Reserves and on patrol for the Colorado Springs Police Department, she was selected in 2008 for school resource officer assignments at Sabin Middle School in Colorado Springs School District 11 and Skyview Middle School in Falcon School District 49. In 2009, Baldwin became a full-time SRO at Skyview Middle School. She returned to patrol duties for the CSPD in 2010.
