Airbrushing the reality out of women’s bodies has become so much - TopicsExpress

Airbrushing the reality out of women’s bodies has become so much the norm, reality isn’t often seen, let alone celebrated. I still remember the time my then toddler son, who had quit nursing, but developed a habit of putting his hand on my belly when he needed reassurance, told me, with absolute reverence in his voice, Mama, I LOVE your belly. Its so soft. I have never been one to be ashamed of my body, but I was having a very hard time coming to terms with this new, stretched out version of me. Hearing appreciation for softness gave me something to hang onto - and made me remember that the very things that worry me about my body can be the things that make my children feel comforted.
