Akpodiete Fulfill Promises On Good Governance To Constituency By Vins Onu THE member representing Ughelli North two Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Rufus Edoja Akpodiete says his primary focus in the House is to enhance quality lives of his people and contribute to good governance of Delta State. Hon. Akpodiete who stated this at a civic reception in his honour by the Iwhreko community of Ughelli clan in Ughelli North Local Government area appealed for the maximum support of the constituents to succeed in the onerous task. The lawmaker said as the representative of the people, he had never failed at ensuring that the voice of the people was heard on issues that affect their well being and that of the generality of the people of Delta State. Hon. Akpodiete said he holds the mandate in trust for the people of Ughelli North two Constituency and he is determined to represent them qualitatively despite challenges sometimes encountered in the course of duty. The lawmaker listed some achievements made so far since assumption of office, including projects attracted under his Charity Projects Programmme, the constituency projects as a member of state legislature and the general projects of the Delta State government. He disclosed that some of the twenty water scheme embarked upon under the Edoja Akpodiete Charity Projects spread across the constituency have been completed and already in use, while others are in various stages of completion. Hon Akpodiete said in 2012 state government budget, a budgetary provision of 1.2 billion Naira was made for the completion of Ughelli township dualisation road project, stating that several other budgetary provisions were made in other sector including health, education, Energy and Environment. He thanked his immediate community for the honour promising to help address other issues raised and reminded them of the need for sound education of the people as it is the key to development. The Chairman Ughelli Traditional Council of Chiefs, Chief Obrike Uloho who chaired the occasion, stressed the need for politicians to play politics of development and commended Hon. Akpodiete for the success recorded so far as a member of the state legislature. The President General of Iwhreko community, Mr. Daniel Igbudu whose address was read by the secretary General, Pastor Daniel Uloho said it is the first time an indigene of the community is representing the constituency in the state house of Assembly. Mr Igbudu acknowledged the pragmatic approach of Hon. Akpodiete to development and assured the lawmaker and the Delta state government of continued support of the people. He paid glowing tributes to those that contributed to the development of landmark projects in the area, including the community town hall and promised that the community will continue to be a good host to government agencies, corporate organisations and other establishments in the area. Others who spoke including a party chieftain Chief Tony Eseagwu thanked the Iwhreko community for the honour done to Hon Akpodiete and called for their continued support. The ceremony which featured dances and presentation of souvenirs was attended by the member representing Ethiope East Hon Joseph Oshenire.
