Al-Arab Channel, Owned By Saudi Prince Al-Walid bin Talal, To Air From Bahrain In a report published today (January 20, 2014), the London daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi exposed an exchange of letters dated December 24, 2013 between Saudi Prince Al-Walid bin Talal and the Bahraini king, Hamad bin Issa Aal Khalifa. The letters reveal that Prince Al-Walid has reached an agreement with Bahrain, according to which his new channel, Al-Arab, which is to begin airing in six months, and which aspires to compete with the Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya channels, will be broadcast from Bahrain, and the Bahraini king will contribute some $12 million annually for its operation, for a period of 10 years. Furthermore, Prince Al-Walids Rotana media group will also move to Manama and will be financed by the king to the sum of $7 million annually for a period of 10 years; he will also provide the group with $10 million for the purpose of moving to Bahrain. The prince stated in his letter to the king that this initiative would have a positive impact on Bahrain.
