Al Bashir-Turabi Meeting Positive Step, Beginning of Solution of Crises: PCP Khartoum – The meeting between the President of the Republic, Omer Al Bashir, and leader of the Popular Congress Party (PCP) Al-Sheikh Hassan Al-Turabi a couple of days ago was successful by all standards, according to PCP leading figure. The meeting between the two leaders after a rupture of more than 15 years is a positive step and represents a step in the right direction to resolve crises the country is encountering, Naji Dahab said in statement to Sudan Vision. Al Bashirs meeting with all the political forces means he has recognized the importance of the role of these forces towards national issues, he said, adding that neither the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) nor the PCP will be able to lead the country in isolation of other groups. He underlined the importance of engaging all the political parties in running the countrys affairs during the forthcoming period including the armed movements adding that dialogue would lead to the solution of all issues. The PCP is in the process of preparing a draft document of proposals for resolving national issues and it would be presented after the formation of a mechanism for dialogue representative of all the political forces, he said. On Saturday the PCP leader and President Al Bashir met for the first time since 15 years and the meeting took place amid the presence of a large number of leading figures from the two parties. The meeting was convened within the context of Presidents meetings with all the Sudanese political forces to activate national dialogue initiative, said Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, NCP political secretary, in press statements. The meeting stressed that no political group should be excluded from dialogue, he said. Mechanisms and topics of dialogue would be agreed upon in an inclusive meeting of all the political parties, said Bashir Adam Rahama, PCP external relations secretary. Our party has responded after assessing the challenges the country is encountering, he said. Problems are solved by comprehensive dialogue and failure of dialogue will mean injustice is done to generations to come.
