Al-Bren Page I have been a career law enforcement officer for 30 years. I have worked for a local law enforcement agency and recently retired from a state agency where I was employed for over 26 years. My experience afforded me the opportunity to work with men and women from a variety of professional law enforcement agencies and departments from North Carolina and the United States. I have known John Ledford professionally and personally for 21 years. I have worked with him in the law enforcement profession to include supervising him and subsequently being supervised by him as his deputy director of operations within the N.C. Department of Public Safety. While stationed in Raleigh, I also shared an apartment with John. Now, you, the citizens of Madison County, have the opportunity to elect John Ledford as your sheriff and chief law enforcement officer in the county. I know John to be that rare breed of a man who possesses “ALL” the “QUALITIES” you desire as a “PROFESSIONAL” law enforcement officer and your sheriff. He always presents a professional demeanor and he is courteous and respectful of everyone he encounters. John knows the value of proper training and the impact a professional sheriff’s department has on the community and you; the residents of the county. I know John is not seeking the office of sheriff just to have a job; he is a son of Madison County and he truly cares about the people and communities within the County regardless of political affiliation, social status, and personal backgrounds. He has the best interest of Madison County and you; the citizens in his heart. John is a man of his word and will be a sheriff who keeps his promises and is accessible to all. His past law enforcement experience and training; his past life experiences as a member of the county and your community; and the instilled family values of his parents; James and Nina Ledford, will enable him as the sheriff, to appropriately handle the power and authority that comes with the office of sheriff and to be comfortable in making the tough decisions that are in your best interest and that are fair and equal to all, and keeps you safe in your homes and communities. As your sheriff, I know John Ledford will be budget conscious to ensure your sheriff’s department is operated in an efficient and professional manner for you, the tax payer.
