Al-Jarba expresses concern of American-Iranian rapprochement.. The head of the Syrian opposition National Coalition, Ahmed Jarba, said on Sunday that the opposition is concerned that the American-Iranian rapprochement would lead to the strengthening of the Syrian regime, especially on the financial level. Jarba said in an interview with Reuters in Kuwait, where he is on an official visit by the invite of the Government of Kuwait Im worried about this rapprochement in financial level He added that he told the Arab and international parties of this concern, and they understand that. Jarba confirmed that Geneva 2 Conference will be on January 22 . He said, “We have got assurances by major countries that there is no future (of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad) in Syria, and that Geneva Conference will lead to executive authority leading the transition phase that leads to a democratic political solution in Syria.” He stressed that there isn’t any demand by any party for a cease-fire during the Geneva Conference 2. He noted that there were many cases where the negotiations were done without a cease-fire, such as France, Algeria, Vietnam and the United States. Jarba confirmed that efforts were being made to unify the factions of the armed opposition on the ground, with the exception of groups linked to al-Qaeda . R.D
