Al-Karim (the Kind) ”O man! What has made you careless concerning your Lord, al-Karim (the Kind)?” (Surah al-Intifar [82]:6)All praises be to Allah, who is known by the beautiful Name al-Karim, the Kind. It is He who manifests kindness, generosity and mercy towards His creation. Allah’s infinite kindness towards us is manifest in His bringing us into being, sustaining us, guiding us and rewarding us for our good deeds. Allah tells us in the Qur’an:“O man! What has careless about your Lord al-Karim (the Kind)? Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion. In whatever form He willed, He put you together.” (Surah al-Infitar, 82:6-8)It is a sad fact that although people can think, many of them never wonder how they came into being or who is responsible for the countless blessings that surround them. Those who use their intellect wonder who created them and who is responsible for these infinite blessings that they could never attained on their own. What is it that enabled us to think and perceive the world around us? Through Allah’s guidance, we realise that it is He, our Lord, Who created us and granted us all of these infinite blessings. Truly He is the Most Kind, the Most Generous.“Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists). He has created man from a clot of blood. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. Who has taught (the writing) by the pen. He has taught man that which he knew not. Nay! Verily, man does transgress (in disbelief and evil deed). Because he considers himself self-sufficient. Surely unto your Lord is the return.” (Surat al-‘Alaq [96]:1-8)
