Albert Einstein once said that doing the same thing over and over - TopicsExpress

Albert Einstein once said that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. But, how often do we do exactly that? The other day as I was unloading and reloading the dishwasher, there was a dish that hadn’t gotten clean in the previous wash cycle. What did I do? I put it right back in the dishwasher - as if putting it through the exact same process would work better the second time (not to mention that now the food was dried on tougher than concrete and would be HARDER to get off than originally...) Why did I do it? Because I didn’t feel like putting any elbow grease into prying the concrete off the dish, myself, that’s why! I know it’s silly, but I’m pretty sure I’m not the only insane dishwasher out there. I also don’t think I’m the only one who can apply it to other areas of my life. What shortcomings, bad habits, etc do I really need to “clean up” that I continually try to address in the same ways that have already repeatedly failed? Father, help me this day. Convict my heart of the things you want surrendered to You, and show me how to accomplish that in Your way rather than my ways that continuously fail. Help me to surrender control to You at all times. Help me to remember that my way usually ends up making things harder on myself and that Your way is always best. “How blessed is everyone who …walks in His ways” (Ps 128:1). angie
