AlbiesHospitalHealthUpdate/StBartsMarch11th;- It is exactly the one year anniversary since I had the neurosurgery done on my fractured spine at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel. So I would like to take this opportunity to thank the brilliant Mr Yeh and his amazing team of neurosurgeons for all of their fantastic work on my spine - without which I doubt that I would able or capable of ever walking again. Because of my multiple Myeloma cancer, a small tumour had developed between my T11/12 Vertebraes, causing them to fracture. The result of which had left me partially paralysed on Feb 9th 2013. Before my back operation on March 11th, I couldnt even sit up, and had to wear an external coccyx brace, in order so that I actually go from sit2stand. The amount of unbearable pain and suffering that I had to endure through each and every hour was completely indescribable. I was swallowing strong morphine-based painkillers just like they were candy. In the months that followed... I spent several months in Rehab at The London Spinal Cord Injuries Unit. And I spent six months solely reliant on wheelchair and getting used to my new very unique body. When you have an impairment or disability the world always views you differently. At first, one can only see the disadvantages of. When if one has the right frame of mind and positive will power/mental attitude... Then with the right kind of help and support... Faith and Courage. So much more can be achieved. All along the way I have been blessed with truly remarkable Nurses, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Carers and Healthcare Assistants and Specialists - all of whom worked tirelessly and selflessly - to bring me from the very pit and precipice of death. I have more than shared my story and it has been well documented my actual remarkable progress. And so... In November of 2013, I started rather gingerly taking my first completely unaided steps at home. But quite a lot of the fact that I can now walk is down to Mr Yeh and his team of neurosurgeons. Once all of the healing and pain from the surgery had diminished then I really could fully appreciate the extent of just how brilliant the surgery had been. I am thankful and grateful to be alive. All walking and talking. Thank you Mr Yeh. Thank you God. Thanks to all my people that continue to support me. Now go shares the Love. ☺
